Assumpta Uzamukunda is the Rwanda Restoration Research Associate, leading WRI's restoration activities in Rwanda. She has experience in landscape restoration, landscape governance, food systems, and multi-stakeholder processes.

Prior to joining WRI, Assumpta worked as a local representative of Wageningen University & Research (WUR) in the HortInvest, a horticulture development project in Rwanda, where she was responsible of facilitating public-private collaboration, policy and institutional development, and capacity building of local and national stakeholders in the horticulture sector. In the past, Assumpta worked for the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) and the Rwanda Natural Resources Authority (RNRA) on landscape restoration and landscape governance programs.

Assumpta holds a BSc. in Biodiversity Conservation from the University of Rwanda, and a Masters’ degree in Forest Management from Wageningen University & Research in the Netherlands.
